He essays the role of freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar in the biographical drama, which also marks his directorial debut. The trailer opens with a storytelling viewers that this is a story that is not about how India gained independence from the British through non-violence alone. The Swatantrya Veer Savarkar trailer opens with an officer describing him as one of the “most dangerous men” he has ever met. This is because in one meeting he convinced a British officer that he was wrong. As a passionate voice of the motherland, he is seen uniting people and encouraging them to join the movement. Ankita Lokhande, who plays his spouse, appears briefly in the teaser and cautions Saavarkar that fording the river and going the opposite way could bring misfortune to them. After that, the teaser takes viewers to the period of his life during which he was imprisoned. A two-life sentence to jail has been handed down for the first time. The global premiere of “Swatantrya Veer Savarkar” is scheduled on March 22.
